ILS 100: Intro to Information Studies | June 15–August 7

This course introduces students to navigating today’s information-rich world. You’ll learn how to find, evaluate, and use information to solve real-world problems, work with different information systems and sources, and think critically and ethically about information. This is the entry course for the Information Studies Minor.

ILS 230: Data Science & Society | June 15–August 7

An introduction to the ethical, legal, and social issues (ELSI) in data science. Students explore how data science impacts society using different frameworks and perspectives. This is a writing-intensive course with both individual and group work.

ILS 231: Information Strategies for the Use of AI (AI Info Strategies) | May 18–July 10

Learn how algorithms work, where bias can appear, and how AI is used across fields. Students evaluate the strengths and limits of AI tools and practice using them effectively through hands-on activities.

Designed for students interested in healthcare careers. Build the information skills needed for medical, graduate, or professional programs in fields like medicine, dentistry, public health, and more.
